AI Ethics and Data Advisory Panel Expands Mandate to Advance Responsible AI and Data Governance for SMEs

Since its launch in 2024, the Digital Governance Council’s (DGC) AI Ethics Advisory Panel has been helping organizations navigate the ethical complexities of artificial intelligence. Building on this foundation, the panel’s role has now expanded to include AI Ethics Impact and Data Governance Maturity Assessment Reviews providing expert, actionable guidance to help organizations mitigate ethical and privacy risks, strengthen governance practices, and align with emerging best practices.

Why SMEs Should Get Involved

For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) developing or adopting AI, participating in the program offers clear, tangible benefits. SMEs gain access to tailored expert insights that address their unique challenges, helping them strengthen ethical practices, reduce operational risks, build trust with clients and partners, and demonstrate leadership in the responsible use of AI.

Through this process, SMEs can submit their internal AI Ethics Impact and Data Governance Maturity Assessment, receive expert feedback, and apply recommendations to improve their projects. This approach not only supports regulatory compliance but also helps SMEs enhance their competitive position in a market where ethical, transparent AI is increasingly a key differentiator.
