CAN/DGSI 108 Reaffirmed: Keeping Innovation at the Forefront of Digital Procurement

The Digital Governance Standards Institute (DGSI) is pleased to announce the reaffirmation of CAN/DGSI 108:2023 (R2025), the National Standard of Canada for Agile and Open Procurement of Digital Solutions. This reaffirmation underscores the continued relevance and importance of the standard in shaping modern procurement practices that are adaptable, transparent, and innovation-driven.

Originally developed by DGSI’s Technical Committee 8 (TC 8) on Modern Procurement, CAN/DGSI 108 establishes a framework for organizations to implement challenge-based, agile, and open procurement processes for digital solutions. The standard remains a vital resource for public and private companies, government entities, and not-for-profit organizations seeking to streamline their procurement approaches while ensuring flexibility and accountability.

“Reaffirming CAN/DGSI 108 reflects our commitment to fostering best practices in digital procurement,” said Darryl Kingston, Executive Director of the Digital Governance Standards Institute. “By maintaining this standard, we continue to provide organizations with a robust methodology that encourages competition, efficiency, and better outcomes for Canadians.”

The reaffirmation follows a maintenance review period, during which stakeholders had the opportunity to submit comments and feedback. With no substantive changes required, CAN/DGSI 108:2023 (R2025) remains an essential tool for procurement professionals, reinforcing best practices and ensuring alignment with evolving industry needs.

DGSI extends its gratitude to The MITRE Corporation for their foundational work on challenge-based acquisition, which informed the development of this standard.
