CIO Strategy Council Publishes National Standard for Third Party Access to Data

The CIO Strategy Council is pleased to announce the publication of a new edition (2nd) of a National Standard of Canada that specifies minimum requirements and a set of privacy controls for third-party access to data.

The National Standard of Canada, CAN/CIOSC 100-2 , Data governance – Part 2: Third party access to data, applies to all organizations, including public and private companies, government entities, and not-for-profit organizations.

This standard was prepared by the CIOSC’s Technical Committee on Data Governance, which is comprised of more than 200 experts in data, governance, and related fields. Thank you to our experts for making this possible! Make sure to check out our other committees and projects and find out how you can get involved.

“As a National Standard of Canada, CAN/CIOSC 100-2:2022 influences how organizations throughout the country in the public, private, and non-profit sectors control their data, it is important to ensure that these protections reflect the latest developments in technology and the risks and benefits to sharing data with third parties. As more and more data get shared with third parties in an everyday context, this standard is also becoming essential to ensure that the data and privacy of Canadians are protected.”
