DGSI Announces Periodic Maintenance of DGSI 119-1, Election and Voting Technologies – Part 1: Vote Tabulators

Ottawa, ON — The Digital Governance Standards Institute (DGSI) announces the beginning of a scheduled periodic maintenance review for DGSI 119-1, Election and Voting Technologies – Part 1: Vote Tabulators.

The maintenance period will run for 90 days, beginning February 11, 2026, and concluding on May 13, 2026.

DGSI 119-1:2023 establishes minimum requirements for the design, installation, operation, maintenance, security, auditability, accessibility, and transparency of vote tabulators and vote tabulator systems. The Standard supports electoral management bodies and producers in strengthening integrity, reliability, and public trust in election technologies.

This periodic maintenance review is conducted in accordance with DGSI procedures to ensure the Standard remains current, responsive to emerging threats, aligned with evolving cybersecurity best practices, and reflective of stakeholder needs.

Stakeholders, including electoral management bodies, technology producers, cybersecurity experts, policymakers, accessibility advocates, and members of the public, are invited to review the Standard and submit comments during the maintenance period.

Feedback can be submitted via DGSI 119-1.

All comments received by May 13, 2026 will be reviewed by the responsible Technical Committee and considered as part of the maintenance process. The review may result in the publication of a revised edition, reaffirmation, or other appropriate action.
