DGSI Launches Periodic Maintenance for CAN/DGSI 101: Ethical Design and Use of Artificial Intelligence by Small and Medium Organizations

Ottawa, ON — The Digital Governance Standards Institute (DGSI) today announced the start of a periodic maintenance process for CAN/DGSI 101, Ethical Design and Use of Artificial Intelligence by Small and Medium Organizations, a National Standard of Canada.

The 90-day maintenance period will run from January 22 to April 22. Periodic maintenance is a structured review process intended to ensure that standards remain current, relevant, and aligned with evolving technologies, practices, and stakeholder needs. During this period, DGSI will assess whether updates, clarifications, or reaffirmation of the Standard are warranted.

CAN/DGSI 101 provides minimum requirements and practical guidance to help small and medium organizations design, deploy, and monitor artificial intelligence systems in an ethical, responsible, and risk-aware manner. Given the rapid pace of AI adoption and innovation, this maintenance cycle supports DGSI’s commitment to continuous improvement and sound digital governance.

DGSI invites interested stakeholders, including organizations, practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and members of the public, to review the standard and submit comments or observations that may inform the maintenance outcome. All feedback received during the maintenance window will be considered by the responsible technical committee.
