Digital Governance Council Collaborates with ICTC on Latest Report Building a Sustainable ICT Ecosystem: Strategies and Best Practices for Reducing Environmental Harms in a Digital World

A collaborative approach critical for sustainable digital economy

The Digital Governance Council (DGC) continues collaboration with the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) on the latest report released, “Building a Sustainable ICT Ecosystem: Strategies and Best Practices for Reducing Environmental Harms in a Digital World”. This report charts a path forward toward a more sustainable digital economy.

A Digital Economy Within Environmental Boundaries

The report emerges at a critical time when the global economy is grappling with the adverse effects of climate change, excessive greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and various other environmental challenges. It outlines how the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector can revolutionize its practices to align with environmental sustainability, thus helping to ensure a safer planet for future generations.

Finding solutions for a more sustainable ICT Ecosystem

As we stand at the crossroads of technological advancement and environmental sustainability, the collaborative report marks a call to action for policymakers, industry leaders, and individuals to embrace sustainable practices that ensure the digital economy thrives within the boundaries of our planet’s ecological limits. By collaborating with the ICTC, DGC aims to grow awareness of actionable change and promote a digitally inspired sustainable economy for Canada. Together, they invite leaders from the digital economy to join in signing the Sustainable IT Pledge, which aims to cut emissions from digital technologies.
