UM First University to Join the Digital Governance Council to Advance Responsible Innovation

The Digital Governance Council is pleased to welcome the University of Manitoba as its newest member. As Manitoba’s largest and only research-intensive university, the institution brings deep expertise in teaching, learning analytics, digital strategy, and innovation to the Council’s growing community of leaders advancing responsible digital governance across Canada.

Driving Responsible Innovation in Higher Education

Through its Office of the Vice-Provost (Learning, Analytics, and Academic Infrastructure), led by Dr. Mark G. Torchia, the University is spearheading initiatives that enhance teaching and learning, promote entrepreneurial and innovative thinking, and strengthen the responsible use of digital technologies and data within higher education.

“UM is committed to being a Canadian leader in digital and providing an outstanding teaching, learning, and research environment,” says Dr. Mark G. Torchia, Vice-Provost, Learning, Analytics, and Academic Infrastructure. “The digital landscape is moving quickly and we know if we provide key tools and information to faculty, staff, and students, we can meet this moment in an innovative and responsible way.”
