The Digital Governance Standards Institute (DGSI) announces the commencement of the periodic maintenance review for CAN/DGSI 108, the National Standard for Agile and Open Procurement of Digital Solutions. This review marks a crucial step in ensuring the continued relevance and effectiveness of this important standard in Canada’s digital governance landscape.
CAN/DGSI 108, first published in December 2023, has played an important role in defining minimum requirements for the preparation, development, and execution of challenge-based, agile, and open procurement procedures related to digital solutions. The standard has been an instrumental tool in fostering innovation, transparency, and best practices across public and private sectors, government entities, and not-for-profit organizations.
Darryl Kingston, Executive Director of Standards at the Digital Governance Standards Institute, emphasized the significance of this review: “The periodic maintenance review of CAN/DGSI 108 demonstrates our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in digital governance. This process ensures that our national standard continues to meet the evolving needs of organizations in their procurement of digital solutions, ultimately benefiting both the industry and the citizens they serve.”
The review process, which begins one year from the date of publication, may result in a new edition, revision, reaffirmation, or withdrawal of the Standard. DGSI encourages all stakeholders, including industry professionals, government representatives, and technology experts, to participate in this review process and provide your feedback by March 3, 2025.

- The three-phase approach: Preparation, Design, and Evaluation
- Guidelines for challenge-based, agile, and open procurement methodologies
- Requirements for privacy by design and privacy by default in procurement criteria
- Evaluation criteria and techniques for assessing digital solutions
