The Digital Governance Standards Institute (DGSI) is inviting public feedback as part of the 90-day systematic maintenance review of CAN/DGSI 100-9, Data governance – Part 9: Data Collaboration Framework, a National Standard of Canada.
This standard provides minimum recommendations for data collaboration and zero-copy integration, offering guidance on building modular capabilities within controlled data environments. It is designed to support IT leaders, decision-makers, and data professionals in creating digital solutions that promote consistent, precise, and collaborative data management practices across sectors.
What the Standard Covers
CAN/DGSI 100-9 promotes an access-based collaboration model that reduces reliance on copy-based data integration and supports innovation while protecting data integrity. The standard provides guidance on:
- Decoupling data from applications to avoid silos
- Managing collaboration through access-based rather than copy-based integration
- Governing and managing data as a product
- Enforcing access controls at the metadata layer
- Creating metadata-driven experiences
- Designing modular, composable enterprise architectures
“The Data Collaboration Framework provides organizations with a modern approach to data governance, eliminating the risks of data silos and copy-based integration while enabling secure, efficient collaboration across teams, systems, and industries,” said Darryl Kingston, Executive Director of the Digital Governance Standards Institute.
Review the Standard
Stakeholders are invited to review the standard and submit feedback during the 90-day public review period, which will remain open until January 20, 2026
You can access and provide your feedback via CAN/DGSI 100-9
