On June 19, 2025, Social Economy Through Social Inclusion (SETSI) hosted a national workshop in partnership with the Digital Governance Standards Institute (DGSI) to support the development of a Workshop Agreement on Digital Literacy. Close to 70 participants from various sectors and regions across the country joined the virtual session to shape a national approach to digital literacy in Canada.
The Workshop Agreement aims to:
• Define a common vocabulary for digital literacy and related terms
• Provide practical guidance for implementing digital literacy initiatives in diverse settings
• Identify cross sector best practices that can be adapted and scaled
• Propose a shared set of indicators to track progress and impact
The discussion welcomed thoughtful input from an engaged audience. Feedback received during the session is now being collected more broadly, with the document open for additional written comments until July 4, 2025.
Following the July deadline, SETSI will review the feedback and develop a revised version of the agreement. Those who participated in the workshop will be invited to conduct a final review and provide any additional comments. The goal is to finalize and publish the Workshop Agreement by October 2025.
This work reflects SETSI’s continued leadership in embedding justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and access in Canada’s social economy and digital future, and DGSI’s commitment to building consensus-based standards that support a trusted and inclusive digital landscape.
