Periodic Maintenance Begins for CAN/DGSI 123: Design, Implementation and Evaluation of Regulatory Sandboxes

Ottawa, ON — The Digital Governance Standards Institute (DGSI) announces the launch of the periodic maintenance review for CAN/DGSI 123: Design, Implementation and Evaluation of Regulatory Sandboxes, a National Standard of Canada.

This scheduled maintenance review will begin January 15, 2026, and will continue for 90 days, concluding on April 15, 2026.

CAN/DGSI 123 provides guidance for regulators on determining when a regulatory sandbox is an appropriate policy tool, and on the design, implementation, and evaluation of regulatory sandboxes. The Standard establishes a structured lifecycle approach to support regulatory experimentation while maintaining transparency, public protection, and regulatory oversight.

Periodic maintenance is conducted to ensure that the Standard remains current, clear, and aligned with evolving regulatory practices, emerging technologies, and lessons learned from the application of regulatory sandboxes in Canada and internationally.

During this maintenance period, DGSI invites regulators, policymakers, innovators, industry participants, and other interested stakeholders to review the Standard and provide feedback.

Comments and feedback can be submitted through the CAN/DGSI 123 page
