Public Comment Invited: 90-Day Maintenance Review Opens for DGSI TS 122 on Impact Statements

The Digital Governance Standards Institute (DGSI) has opened a 90-day systematic maintenance review of DGSI TS 122: Technical Specification for Impact Statements for Profit-Oriented Entities, inviting input from stakeholders to refine and strengthen Canada’s approach to non-financial and impact-based reporting.

Published in 2023, TS 122 outlines clear and consistent guidance for organizations preparing public-facing impact statements. It was created to support greater transparency, comparability, and integrity in how companies measure and report the social and environmental consequences of their operations.

DGSI is now seeking feedback from the business community, investors, auditors, policymakers, and sustainability professionals to ensure the specification remains relevant and effective in a rapidly evolving reporting environment.

About the Technical Specification

DGSI TS 122 offers a practical framework for preparing high-quality impact statements that go beyond surface-level sustainability claims. It supports:

  • Disclosures grounded in double materiality, reflecting both financial and impact considerations
  • Transparent reporting of positive and negative impacts across an entity’s full value chain
  • Structured engagement with stakeholders, including Indigenous communities where applicable
  • Alignment with key international frameworks including SDG Impact Standards, UNDRIP, GRI, and the ISSB
  • Evidence-based measurement and documentation of material outcomes, impact risks, and mitigation strategies

The specification is designed for profit-oriented entities but may be adapted by public sector business entities and others seeking to demonstrate credible social and environmental accountability.

DGSI encourages all interested parties to participate and help shape the next evolution of impact transparency in Canada.
